I dont know if this is where this message belongs but I think it is.
The only question that I have is that I was told about a Linux program that does not require to be installed. One that you can just boot off the cd, the name of the program that I was told was either Novex std or Novel std. I have been searching the web for a week and cannot seem to find it.
If anyone knows where to get it, or if it exists and is a decent version please reply. Also if you know of one that is better or another Linux version that is cd bootable please reply.
Besides Knoppix, there is another distro that is very good at recognizing hardware and is great for Noobies: Mepis . You should definitely check out Mepis! I have not tried the current beta version but the 2003.10 version is my real favorite.
The only thing I miss from it is ISDN support (and that is the only reason that I have Knoppix installed on my other network box that gives my Mepis machine web access). But if you don't use ISDN to get online then give it a try!! It also installs to the hard drive very easily in case you get convinced that it is worth keeping.
