Window settings

I am using Ubuntu 14.04, with the KDE 4.13.3 desktop and Libreoffice 4.2.8.2.

When I insert a flash drive and select a text file (which opens in Libreoffice), sometimes the file will open in front of the flash drive directory and sometimes behind it. No rhyme or reason. The same file might open in front one time and then behind the next.

The same thing happens when I have, say Firefox, open and click on the panel launcher for Libreoffice. Sometimes Libre will open behind the Firefox screen and sometimes in front.

I've made adjustments to the various options in the the system settings and in the Libreoffice settings, with no success.

Anyone have any ideas? Thank you.

Hello and welcome to LQ.

I've seen stuff like that before. I assume there are a number of things going on with the way the video card and window manager is handling updates.

Not sure I know of a solution. If it is a minor annoyance then I'd just leave it. Guess you could take new clean tested disc's and reload it all. Or do a test with a different distro or different ubuntu version.

Sometimes order of updates affect this stuff.

I still get the feeling it is just an oddity of your system and OS.
