Clonezilla Server Edition will enable you to clone to multiple machines over a network if this is what you ware looking for. Check out the cloning tool on Parted Magic too.

I presume you are familiar with Windows if you are new to Linux but your company is asking you to roll out 40 machines. Windows Server uses a service called WDS to roll out Windows over a network with PXE boot and can be used for deploying Linux too. The instructions are quite long but there are quite a few articles on the net if you Google 'Deploy Linux WDS'.

http://clonezilla.org/clonezilla-SE/
http://www.corbacho.info/clonezilla/clonezilla.html

If both sets of these instructions are unclear then I would consider other methods before you spend too much time trying to work this out.

Three years ago we were just cloning disks in hard drive caddies but after one too many cuts and scrapes from cheap chassis we did our last deployment using FOG:

http://www.fogproject.org/

And as I said in my last post we have seen several of our clients deploying via WDS if you are more familiar with Windows.

it's not that easy but I would do like that:
- install ubuntu on 1 pc with a / partition of 10gb and the rest in /home
- make your directories (except the /home ones)
- make and img with dd of the / partition (or you can tar it)
- for each hd then you:
-make the partitions
-dd the image to the partition (or untar it)
-make the directory in the /home tree
-install boot loader

for the last 4 step you can make a script, remember to format the hd if you don't use dd.

If you want a strong automatic process you can use pxeboot and use a script that automagically do everything, it should not be that hard.
