Ubuntu Mate 16.04/64-bit screensaver/power issue

This is a new install, and I thought I found all the settings for the screensaver/power options, but the computer keeps killing the screen after 10-15 minutes of inactivity. No screensaver ever kicks in, just no video output. Ctrl-Alt-Delete brings it back, with the shut-off/log-off options, but it's annoying on a desktop. Any help would be appreciated. I've seen some very old posts on this issue, but don't know if they still apply. Thanks in advance.

Have you done both of these?

Power: Control Centre->Hardware->Power Management->Put computer to sleep when inactive: Never & Put display to sleep when inactive: Never (N.B. Both of these for both the On AC Power and On Battery Power tabs).

Screensaver: Control Centre->Look and Feel->Screensaver: uncheck both.

Yes, of course, as I said I tried all the obvious stuff.

I finally installed xscreensaver, adjusted the settings there, and it seems to have done the trick - at least for the past few hours.

What is obvious to one person isn't necessarily to another. It's always best to list exactly what you've tried so as to not throw people off the scent.

Anyway, glad you appear to have got it sorted.

Updating to add the settings reverted after a re-boot.

What I do is create a "xorg.conf" file with this text in it:

Section "ServerFlags"
#...
Option "BlankTime" "0"
Option "StandbyTime" "0"
Option "SuspendTime" "0"
Option "OffTime" "0"
EndSection

And put that into your /etc/X11 folder

Actually, that's the correct text but it's supposed to look like this:
