Synaptic on Loonux/Lemote Yeelong

I have a lemote yeeloong 8101b running Loonux GNU/Linux and am trying to install Synaptic. I am very new to Linux and do not know how to build software packages, and was wondering for best to install synaptic so I can more easily install software in the future?

Installing Synaptic will not make installing software easier, as long as Loonux is not based on Debian or a derivative.
It may be easier to just install the MIPS version of Debian on that machine.
