Synaptic and Adept together

After recently re-installing Kubuntu as I had trouble with, I think Xorg, Now I find with Intrepid Ibex I have both Synaptic and Adept. They both do the same job - I suppose, but is having them both causing me a problem with Plasma and widgets. I ask because I reported a bug on Plasma which caused the screen to go completely black for a few seconds and the crash manager window pop up appeared also widgets stick in the system tray after the window to that widget is closed. It seems this was a new bug which is not resolved as yet and it was suggested that I rebuild KDE workspace. Now looking into Synaptic I see that I have not got any KDE modules installed and yet Adept shows that it is installed. Am I getting conflicts here can anyone tell me? It seems also that other things I have installed on Adept are marked as not installed in Synaptic. Most things I have though are marked as installed on both installers.

I am not overly worried about this but I would like someone to comment if they would be so kind.

Adept was on my system being Ubuntu 8.10 not installed by default
I can install it , but looking to the name I have the impression that it
is beta version.
So if that is true you install it because so like to take part in the testing process
