problem with login screen

Hi,

In our college we have a lab setup with opensuse 12.04 xfce desktop Desktop environment, NFS and NIS configured on every system. We have around 200 NIS user. The problem is that Desktop login screen is fulled up with NIS user hiding others option, beasuse of this new user are unable to login. How can I avoid login screen cashing the NIS users name.

Thanking you.

Hi,

you should be able to configure the display manager to not list the users. How to do that depends on what dm you are using (eg gdm3, xdm, lightdm etc). If you provide that information we can probably help you configure it.

Hi,

there is a config variable "greeter-hide-users" that controls this. Set it to "true" in your lightdm.conf (possibly at /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf).

HTH,
