Unhappy problem with login screen

hey guys ..i need help please?

i am new to linux and i am currently using Fedora Core 1. i install some new login screen from gnome.org or something....i think it was crop circle and some debian-gdm something....the crop circle was fine when i used it, but when i used the debian-gdm, it would not load up. it says that some file with .png checking error....so i thought i could just delete that whole debian-gdm under the themes directory and hoped it would go back to the default...but noooooo...now the message says "cant find the debian-gdm directories or something...". i did all of that (deleting the debian-gdm dir. using the linux rescue mode on my fedora cd disk1) in the shell mode cause that's all i could get ...no graphical or anything....my question is how to change the login screen selection using shell screen since i don't know much using command mode on shell....pllllease help me so i could mess arround again with my lovely linux......thank you...

Don't realy understand but:

so i thought i could just delete that whole debian-gdm
- meaning you just manually deleted a program's files, sort of thing?

Perhaps should have removed it with your installation program. Perhaps try that now??

Just realised why they call it Fedora - quite clever.

Would imagine to uninstall do:

rpm -e <name of program to be uninstalled>. (think it's -e)

- this is not the same as the name of the file (with .rpm on the end). It'll be something like 'debian-gdm' perhaps.

Bit odd using a Debian program?? Debian uses apt to put in programs.
