problem starting kde after yum update

I'm using an old centos4 machine. I recently did a yum update since it was 2 years old. However i can't start kde. It starts for a few seconds then I get logged off. However when I start gnome everything works fine. So believe X is configured correctly.

I believe some kde program is the problem. Is there any log files I should be looking at in order to fix this issue?

In /var/log/message and /var/log/Xorg.0.log there is no errors or anything that jump out on me.

Let me know if you need anymore info.

Any help is much appreciate.

i tailed the /var/log/Xorg.0.log while starting kde and I got this log:
