I have a problem setting the resolution using e16 and ubuntu 8.10.
I use the Gnome 'monitor resolution settings', and although the resolution is listed and selectable, when I select it and click apply nothing happens! It remains stuck at 1280x960.
I can use...
xrandr -s 1280x1024
...to change the resolution, but this is obviously reset when i log out.
If I log in as another user using Gnome, the resolution is 1280x1024 and there are no problems.
I have an ATI Radeon gfx card but I am sure this is functioning correctly as games and other users are fine.

GDM is also at 1280x960, much to my frustration.
Any thoughts?

What happens if you change it witch System>Preference>Screen Resolution for the user in question

if there was a problem with this, wouldn't it effect all users? why just e16?
