need help with this computer


wound up ? with ubuntu on my desktop and cant format it, any suggestions

Just what are you trying to accomplish? You could not install any system without a file system present. Formatting creates a file system.

What have you tried?

Use a gparted live cd/dvd/usb and format the drive if that is what you really wish to do.
