Mouse and windows glitchy

Ubuntu 20.04.
When I click on something, bookmarks for instance, the list drops down when I push the mouse button but when I release the button the list disappears again. After a few clicks it finally kicks in. Also, many times when I, for instance grab the top of the browser window to move it, the windows jumps to minimize or maximize. Things seem sensitive and erratic. I have tried playing with the mouse settings but they don't seem to help.

On some setups I found I was moving the mouse slightly on double click, which spoiled the show. I now hold the mouse with thumb & little finger, let them slip onth the desk to anchor the mouse, and then double click and it helps. Mine was just over sensitive for the mouse resolution

This sounds like a hardware failure. Try a different mouse.
