Mate main menu in Devuan Beowulf opens programs in background

Hi!

I'm playing around a bit with Devuan (with the Mate desktop) and I've stumbled on an annoying problem. I prefer the more compact "Main Menu" in Mate over the "Menu Bar" that is default on the panel after installation. Problem is that when I launch applications from the main menu, they opens in the background, whereas if I launch them from the "Menu Bar" menu, they launch in the foreground as expected. I've googled, but haven't been able to find any result on such a problem. Any idea what could cause this and how to possibly fix it?

I also want to apologise for not having responded to some help I've gotten on some other posts on this forum. Been somewhat stressful lately...

All the best!

Never mind, sort of. Noticed that the "Brisk Menu" was available and that seems to work as expected, so I'll go with that. Not as "clean" as the Main Menu, but should I switch to Devuan as my main OS (from Mint currently), I could very much live with it, especially since I'm using keyboard combinations for most programs I regularly use. I COULD also switch to Xfce, as I've used it before, but I really like Mate and I do think it's a shame that Gnome turned from something so amazing to Gnome 3 (although many people seems to love it).

I just discovered the same behaviour in Debian Stable, so wasn't at Devuan thing.
