kde can't see usb drive

I put KDE on my Ubuntu, I can't get it to see my usb drive. I originally had regular ubuntu with gnome and if I run the session as gnome it sees the drive (but only after I type 'lsusb'). I prefer the KDE desktop, but I am having this problem. 'lsusb' yields nothing...

How do I get KDE to see my usb drive?
??

thanks

sudo mkdir /media/usbdisk
sudo mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /media/usbdisk

if you have "pmount" installed or "pmount-hal" take a look at their man pages

Would I have to type that every time?

I would like to avoid the whole shell thing when I'm just moving files around. I'll try to write a script...

Add it to your /etc/fstab file and it should auto-mount for you.

okay, okay i'd rather have human contact than google so if you don't feel like answering then don't...

I thought /etc/fstab was consulted only at boot - is this not so?

I will try to write a line here and report back if that works...
