How to view the active linux desktop via tigervnc

Hi,

I've tried multiple sites to setup vnc on my linux desktop so that I can access it remotely via vnc.

I ended up create a :1 user and that seem to work fine. However, I want to access the active desktop via vnc and that's where I'm stuck.

I found on a website that I need to do this to get what I want and it fails:

srcg@srcg-linux ~]$ x0vncserver -passwordfile ~/.vnc/passwd -display :0

Tue Jun 25 12:49:44 2019
Geometry: Desktop geometry is set to 1680x1050+0+0
Main: XTest extension present - version 2.2
Main: failed to bind socket: Address already in use (98)

Says address already in use.

And my netstat -tulpn has an entry for 5900 like below:

tcp6 0 0 :::5900 :::* LISTEN -

Does this mean that 5900 port is used to access via ipv6 and that I've to use my ipv6 address to access desktop via VNC?

most probably the display :0 is already in use, you cannot start xvncserver on :0 if it was already running.

could you please clarify this more?

First off I cannot connect to :0 via VNC. And that's when I tried to run this command based on some info over the internet:

[srcg@srcg-linux .vnc]$ x0vncserver -passwordfile ~/.vnc/passwd -display :0

Tue Jun 25 13:13:16 2019
Geometry: Desktop geometry is set to 1680x1050+0+0
Main: XTest extension present - version 2.2
Main: failed to bind socket: Address already in use (98)

So if it's already in use, will it be possible see which one is using it and kill it?
