Gnome appearance preferences not working since migration from Fedora 7 to F8

Hello,

Since I upgraded from F7 to F8 (not a new install, but an upgrade), the System/Preferences/Appearance menu does not work: I just get briefly the Apperance Preference window, with question marks icons instead of appearances (clearlook, crux, etc.), then it closes itself.

This does the same whatever user I log in (even with newly created ones).

A fresh install on the same machine will not produce the problem, so this is the migration process that is responsible.

Any idea ?

Many thanks

Have you tried to install the fedora-*-theme packages? Such as fedora-gnome-theme.

Thanks,

Thanks four your input.

This what I have:
[mrechte@linux2 ~]$ yum list fedora-*-theme
Installed Packages
fedora-gnome-theme.noarch 8.0.0-1.fc8 installed
fedora-icon-theme.noarch 1.0.0-1.fc8 installed
fedora-screensaver-theme.noarch 1.0.0-1.fc8 installed

I run the applet from the command line and this is the error:

[mrechte@linux2 ~]$ gnome-appearance-properties %F

(gnome-appearance-properties:14383): capplet-common-WARNING **: Could not open file "(null)"

Regards

What happens when you run it without the %F?

Thanks,
