[SOLVED] GNOME 3 Failed to Load

Hi everyone, I've just installed Wheezy (Debian) with GNOME 3, but I get the following message when I log in:

GNOME 3 Failed to Load

Unfortunately GNOME 3 failed to start properly and started in the fallback mode.

This most likely means your system (graphics hardware or driver) is not capable of delivering the full GNOME 3 experience.

I have a HP dv7-7115nr. Here is my video graphics: AMD Radeon HD 7640G Discrete-Class graphics and up to 4084MB total graphics memory

Have you got any idea how to solve this problem?

Hi,

usually the output of lspci is more useful for identifying what the device really is. Anyway you most likely need to some proprietary firmware to get the hardware acceleration that Gnome 3 needs. You can get this firmware by installing the firmware-linux-nonfree package. See http://wiki.debian.org/AtiHowTo for the details.

I've written these commands with their following outputs:

But I don't know which firmware to install because I can't find its name on Internet ('AMD nee ATI 9903' or 'AMD 9903') even in the link you gave me, at least I couldn't find it.

You don't actually need to know which one to install. If you just install the package caclled "firmware-linux-nonfree" then all the available non-free firmware (including the specific one you need) will be installed.

I doubt that Wheezy has the firmware for such a new device, but since this is a notebook it is strongly recommended to install the proprietary AMD driver anyways. Information how to do that here: http://wiki.debian.org/ATIProprietar...0_.22Wheezy.22

I installed the propietary AMD driver as TobiSGD suggested, and it works. I took note about the Evo2's suggestion because I didn't know about it:
