Hi boughtonp, thanks for the reply.
Before you question I didn't know what "wayland" was.
Now, after some reading at
https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fedora/f34/system-administrators-guide/Wayland/
and doing:
Code:
<fedora>.../user>echo $WAYLAND_DISPLAY
wayland-0
<fedora>.../user>loginctl show-session 2 -p Type
Type=wayland
I understand that Fedora 35 + KDE are using Wayland by default.
I'm worried by what's written toward the end of that page:
"Currently KDE still uses X11 and although there is a plasma-wayland session available, it is not considered stable or bugfree at this time."
If that's state of "Wayland", my immediate response is: "can I, please, get off?".
So after some more searching I found how to start "konsole" (or any other software) in the old X11 mode:
setting env. var "QT_QPA_PLATFORM" to a value of "xcb" before running the command.
Now I can get back to the "-geometry" arguments until Wayland will be better.
THANKS!
