see, that is windows mentality.
in gnu/linux you install software from repositories, via packet management, and not from websites.
in other words: you trust your distro's package management (and not the site) - like i said: it doesn't have to be malicious to break your system.
your view there is truly asinine and i'm damn sure you know it. coming into a thread just to insult and bs someone ESPECIALLY a solved thread is trolling. NOTHING wrong with going and getting software from other sources, ESPECIALLY when a lot of what peeps want is not listed in discover, muon, synaptic, ect... i'm sorry but keep that kind of bs out of my thread, cause it helps no one.

first of all it is not your thread - it's LQ's.
I was not insulting you, just providing critical information.
It's up to you if you want to hear it or not.
You, on the other hand, were definitely insulting. Reported.
first i created the thread so yes it is my thread PERIOD. second your post was and is insulting to everyone who uses linux and you know it, you are basically telling peeps that they are too stupid to discern if a outside software source is safe or not. lastly one is not meant to ONLY get software through the buildin software manager and you know it. now once again stay out of my thread.
EDIT:
actually the windows mentality is YOURS. it is microsoft and apple that go only use what we give you don't download from any other sources. that is not nor has EVER been linux thinking.

please note that ondoho was and is in the wrong and his post should be pulled for that reason, but along with my replies to him so we can get the thread back on topic.
