I attempted the RHCE exam and sadly i only managed to crack RHCT.
There were two sections.
Section I : Troubleshooting & Maintainence
Duration: 2 1/2 hrs
Phase I : 5 (compulsory for RHCT) + 3 (Non-compulsory for RHCE)
Phase II: 1 troubleshooting challenge.
I got 100% score in section I
Section II: Installation and configuration
Duration: approx 3 hrs
This is the challenging section. The first half is RHCT qualifier.
I got a score of 73% for RHCT
The second half is RHCE qualifier and damn i only managed 54% score
So average I got 75 % and minimum 80% is required for RHCE certification
So I stand RHCT certified
=========
I would like to know if is there any scope for just RHCT certification. Does it have if not equal but nearly same respect as RHCE? I
Is there anything proud I should be of ?
I plan to give RHCe again on the new RHEL 4 course
Problem is, unless it's an environment where an employer is looking for linux specifcally the cert itself won't be given much credence. I've neither been hurt nor helped for having an RHCE.

So after i have finished studying for the RHCE exam...i think m somehow worry.. seems like its not easy whatever is there is any useful sites so i can configure a semi exam... maybe server1.example.com configuration can help...
you might try http://trouble-maker.sourceforge.net/, which is a package designed for RHEL to "break" systems in a similar fashion. Unfortunately, the latest version of this package has a date in the RHEL 3 timeframe. I don't know if it will properly "break" an RHEL 4 system.
so m ready for the RHCE exam... so i was wondering is there is a need to do the RHCT 1st???
anyway any one have the server1.example.com configuration???
maybe i can run a semi exam b4 i go to the reall one
thanks brothers,
You are not REQUIRED to have RHCT before taking RHCE, but it is recommended. That way you know what you are up against before shelling out for RHCE test.
RHCT demonstrates that you can manage RHEL systems at the local "workstation" level and have a firm understanding of the OS, filesystem, user/group management etc... etc...
So yes, the RHCT *IS* something to be proud of.
RHCE adds Network Services (configuring ftp, dns, nfs, samba etc... etc...) as well as the ability to SECURE those services using things like PAM, TCP Wrappers for "transient" services and IPTables firewall rules for the "stand-alone" services.
