Angry Linux connection through M$ Proxy 2

Hi Guys,

Does anyone know how to successfully configure Linux to connect to the internet through MS Proxy Server 2? I'm on an NT network.

I've been searching the web for ideas for a while, and found many postings asking the above question, and most answers seem to be 'no you cant, because of the lame way ms proxy works (no NAS support)' Is this really the case?

Any feedback would be most welcome

Look forward to hearing from you,

Chris

Thanks in advance ;o)

well I don't know if it will work but here's what you should try

put nameserver in /etc/resolv.conf

make sure you have an ip address that works on your network and is not used already. test with ping to the server.

if it's not a transparent proxy you need to setup your browser for the right proxy settings

Consider using linux as your router gateway

Chad,

I had a similar problem, but was able to find a solution with a python script.

As far as I understand it, the script allows you to authenticate via an MS Proxy Server using the proprietary NTLM protocol.

It can change arbitrary values in your client's request header so that those requests will look like they were created by MS IE.

The script can be found at:

Cheers guys!!!

I tried the Python script method and it worked!!!!

Also, some of the other lads in the office use Opera to
connect to the web (ms windoze ver) and were overjoyed
to learn that they no longer have to run up Iexplorer before
they can run their fav browser.

Hi all,

I also use the NTLM Authentication Script with Opera, Konqueror, etc. But I would like to configure any other apps to work with that proxy. For example Gaim, and so on.

Any ideas?

hi..
i've tried the ntlm proxy auth, and it worked great
the only problem is i must start the proxy server manually
is there any scripts that can make the ntlm proxy start automatically in rh9?
i've tried to add to the service with chkconfig but whenever it came to the proxy line, the system become freeze
and there's nothing i can do except start the machine

thanks in advance
