password prompt twice -> can't use have ftp access to this machine


Hi Guys,
when i want to login to my gentoo machine, i get prompted twice for the password do any body knows how to fix that and keep it just once?

It's probably a PAM thing. Post your /etc/pam.d/common-auth file and I'll see if there's something obvious there. Has it always been this way, or did it recently start?

Hi Matir,
thanks for your reply, actually i didn't find the file you told me about (common-auth) but i found one which is similar in tiltle (system-auth), so i enlosed its content and the one of the directory (pam.d) maybe you can tell me which one is the right to check, by the way i'm using gentoo.
