Need FTP - access to my Fedora 10 linux machine from xp to upload/download.

Hi,

I am trying to setup Fedora 10 server (Apache + Php + MySQL + Tomcat + mail server + FTP + virtual host server).
Right now I had installed apache + php + mysql and they are working.
Now I want to intall FTP server. I just want to upload files to the site in apache. I tried to read many articles and tried but they did not seem to work as I am missing some
configuration part in proftpd.conf file may be not sure.
I created folder FTP-shared in home and change it to chmod 777 and added ftp user named userftp.
Now when I connect it through browser or filezilla it says connected but I cannot upload a file or cannot create directory. It says permission denied.

Can anybody give me setp-by-steap from start to install ftp server, and add a ftp user and give permission to him to upload and download files.
I had installed Fedora 10 to my desktop. I am very new to Linux dont know much commands about it.

There are many FTP server tools in existence. vsftp is Fedora's supported choice, AFAIK, but you need to see which ftp daemon is really running on your box. Check if it is launched at boot time, see if the firewall port for ftp is really open.
You should visit http://www.howtoforge.com/ for some tutorials on everything server-related.

Debian

Last night I tried again :
I tried to set both vsftpd and proftpd.
I was able to connect with anonymous and also with valid ftp user. But when I try to upload file, it says premission denied. And also it does not shoe me any file in that directory too which I already had copied for testing. I had chomod 777 to directory and file but no help.
