I have an operational, multi-distro DVD+UFD system. The DVD media works perfectly, but as I tried to move
one of today's changes to the UFD media, I hit a wall. Normally, within a few hours, I've always been able to overcome stuff like this:
Code:
KERNEL ifcpu64.c32
APPEND /srescue/rescue64 initrd=/srescue/initram.igz scandelay=10 subdir=srescue setkmap=us dostartx -- /srescue/rescue32 initrd=/srescue/initram.igz scandelay=10 subdir=srescue setkmap=us dostartx
Above is the stanza from my SYSLINUX.CFG for the SysRescCD-3.81 sub-menu on my UFD media. /srescue is the sub-dir for all of the SysRescCD-specific files. I added
scandelay=10 to allow time for the USB to become fully accessible, but it only makes the boot process longer, with exactly the same results. It gets well into the process up to
[5.896126] where:
Code:
usb 1-1: new high speed USB device number 2 using ehci_hcd
Write protecting the kernel text: 6180k
Then, boom !
Kernel Panic - not syncing: No init found and the trace back. I've overcome many other kernel panics, integrating six other distros on this media and have reviewed all of the boot-time options for SysRescCD. No joy.
Similar instances of this message via GOOGLE seem to be related to hard-disk installation misconfiguration.
I know this is a long shot, but does anyone have any suggestions ? TIA....
PS: I tried this question here, bec SysRescCD is a Gentoo-based live CD.
