yeah, good point. I know everything in Linux (relatively speaking), but when I go to a DOS prompt, I can barely work on it unless Bash has been installed. Many times, the stuff that linux users want from windows that already exists is stuff-that-is-so-deep-that-you-are-afraid-to-mess-with-it. Or, needs stuff that is not already installed.
On a side note, what happened to the megaman quote in your sig? I really liked that.
I found myself quite often typing "ls" on the dos prompt, ghehe. The quote in my signature is from the game Unreal Tournament 2003 (this is also used in 2k4). On Single player campaign, when you approach the final battle (I think it's against Malcolm team, not sure) that was the description. It could be a map description, I'm not certain. Well, I also thought it was pretty cool and quoted here, ghehe ^_^
I understand your point of view about fps. Well, I like fps games. Usually, I like games that you can play team-oriented only. I would never play UT in a Deathmatch. Spawning with an useless gun in the middle of 10 players with rocket launchers and Flak Cannons jumping like bunnies is not my idea of fun.
Now, what I really like, is a FPS with a good story-driven single player mode. It seens that these kind of games are becoming hard to find though .
That's perhaps what I miss the most with games. A few years back then, in the good 2D times, games where all about the fun. I had so much fun playing my Megaman, Sonic and Mario games, finding hidden items or places or finding an exploit against that difficult stage boss.
Games today are boring: Go from A to B and kill everything in between. And the funny is, instead of being fun, they want to be the next best thing: Doom 3, HL2, Halo... sure, I had a few seconds / monents of fun with those, but the only thing they give some priority was the graphics, again, trying to be the "next best thing", without thinking about the fun. I want fun games goddammit =).
yeah, there is just too much emphasis on the wrong things. The only new games I think I would enjoy are on the GBA or actually 2D with 3D models. I wish they would release a massive 2D game instead of a shorter 3D sometime...
I just have one wish for windows: that they would check their updates for viruses and trojans b4 sending them. The last update I got had a trojan shipped along with it that I could not fix. My anti-virus software had to lock it up in quarintine. Some update.
How Bout
A)Destroy winBLOWZ xp, me, 2k-etc and start back with non-retarded windows 98 and DO IT RIGHT.
B) Add in all of the suggestions above
C)GET REAL TECH SUPPORT WORKERS
D)Make AoL delete on Download

Are you saying that MS actually shipped an update for WinXP with a trojan on it? Because that is a very very bad statement. Sorry. If anything, your crappy anti-virus "thought" that it was a virus. Some anti-spyware might also consider some cookies or blunded software shipped with P2P's to be actually spywares, which is not quite. Some anti-virus applications can also consider "no-cd crack" executables a virus, which once again, is not.

How about:
A) Try to spell like a grow up. It's Windows, not winBLOWZ, or Windoze. Maybe then we can take your comments more seriously. Also, backing up why you think that Windows 98 was "good" or at least "superior" would be nice. Because I fail to see it...
B) Do you mean, keep most of the present features in the future releases? Because most of the features peoples are asking here are not already present, but have been present for a long while
C) please explain...
D) I don't understand your point. But AOL always sucked anyway...
I'm about to smash my Windows desktop and start using Linux all the time, because I really don't think Windows is going to get any better. It will only get worse.

Brilliant comment. How about:

Seriously. Back your ideas up. You can just say it's going to rain next month, because you think it will. Show satellites images of clouds approaching or something. Just saying what you think without backing up with a reason makes your comments invalid and categorized under the class "I hate Windows, because I use Linux".
There's no need to be sorry (though, I appreciate you for being polite ). I also think you have all the right to like or not Windows, Linux, candy, Britney Spears, Metallica. But if there's no argument to back it up, makes the post really, well... pointless. I'm don't want to sound mean, I just like posts that actually clarify things, ratter then going into circles as "My dad is better then yours" sort of thing ^_^
The main reason I plan to stop using Windows is the server we have where I work keeps going down. Then I get home and always hearing about problems individuals are have with Windows and they can't get help. With Linux I can get help in almost no time at all, which is why I'm starting to like it way better than Windows.
People work so hard on developing distributions, software, plugins, drivers for linux everyday, why ask from microsoft, when you can support these hardworking developers by using their stuff, there's so much linux can do that windows can't, and there's barely anything linux can't do that windows can.
The wishlist here is like asking for microsoft to release their sourcecode to the public, it's just not going to happen, the linux community is so great, and is growing so rapid fast, lets not wish for a better windows, lets use a better linux, that over time will definitely become better, and already has and is.
i don't understand how you could ask for a better windows? When there is alternatives that very well could be and are better. Linux developers are all doing a great job in making linux better, there's millions of applications, hundreds of distributions, you can't go wrong.
In the direction linux is headed is up, everything on my gentoo box works great, my only complaint is they need to port more games over to linux. Other than that, linux is just as capable as windows.
