Question What is the OS used by Google.com ?


Hi,

I was just wondering what OS does google.com use??
(I hope its Linux, coz windows cant handle such pressures)

If anyone has the info, please let me know.....and do tell me the URL where I could read more......

It's Linux. They could never afford the licenses to put Windows on all those computers.

well thanks for the information...could u also give a link to some url HOSTED by GOOGLE accepting that it runs on Debian.

(I need to collect the data very urgently. Could you promptly reply.)

Google does not give out that information and it is only really implied in the article that they use Debian. This is the same as how they never say how many servers they have running it is a trade secret and they will not let other people in on the idea.

i didnt find anything on the netcraft thing....please help me...
and cud u suggest a sute which has a much better proof of all this......maybe which discusses the topic...

Look through the Google's IT job listings... << www.google.com/jobs/eng.html >>. All mention Linux. Only a couple are Windows specific.
