Writing this from my new Lucid installation. I have not found it too different from the Karmic but it does feel stable. And looks nice too. And the installation looks very good. This has to be the best looking installer yet.
But there is a small glitch. I can not see the grub menus on the screen neither can I see the booting process. This is strange and weird but nevertheless it works. Just installed it so have not explored it yet. Will find some solution. And also putting up a thread in Ubuntu forums here at LQ to find if anyone has had similar issues.
And Firefox here on Lucid looks much better than Karmic and is fast too.
I'm playing ping pong with slackware boxes, checking my directory backups from the old backup box to the even older soon-to-be file/print server. It amazes me how fast XDMCP is going from a minimal X environment on slack current to another slack current box running KDE is. I keep forgetting that I'm working on the remote machine.
WoW! Well, now I know what I'll do when I get home.
If you plan to install Lucid, then please tell if you have issues with grub menu and the splash screen. I am not able to see both. I can not tell if the system is booting. It just takes me directly to the login screen where I can enter user name and password. But this issue is in install. When I tried it in the Live mode everything went fine. Splash screen was there. And it was nice. I want it somehow.
I have a dell with Intel hardware. Here is the lspci -vv output.

I can not see anything else. Grub file seems fine. Have checked it with startup manager as well. Resolution is fine.
I got the max supported on this dell monitor.

Does not make any difference. But more strange thing is that I can see the splash screen while rebooting or shutting down the system. But not while its starting up.
