Sinking into a deep depression. (Read the very bottom section to know why)

Eh. That's all rather silly. As best I can tell all the expriments proved was that there was a delay between the time someone made a decision, the mind/body became able to act out on that decision and then the person became aware. Free will was exercised when the person decided to flick the wrist. Only then did the body/brain ramp up to flick the wrist which necessarily precedes the action as well as consciousness of the impending action. The brain has filters to get it's ducks in a row so as to make things comprehensible and rational. Anyone who's ever experienced psychedelics can understand why it works this way.

Why didn't I think of that?? Well, I suppose that put my mind at ease for the time being...

I guess that's why people always say "don't believe everything you read on Wikipedia".

EDIT: Protip: Don't look up (personally) sensitive topics on Wikipedia when you're alone!

(Actually, best be not looking them up on Wikipedia at all. Google('s search engine) really is your friend!)

What I'm doing now: trying to get my mind off of the topic and just relax...

Waiting on coffee and waiting to see how bad it can get today.

If anyone would like to adopt me, or more to the point - adopt my bills, so that I no longer have to work, I'm taking applications. I'll need proof of income, one major credit card, and of course 3 personal references plus social security number or your country's eqivalent. Of course I'll click the thanks button for any successful adoptee.

Debating whether I should keep pursuing computers/Linux...

I keep trying to draw analogies between silicon-based computers and the human brain (I can't stop, either), and every time I draw one that seems to fit the bill on both sides, I die a little on the inside.

I've even changed my sig to reflect this...

It's Ubuntu. It's linux-jail. Try Slackware, try free-will!

Maybe that sounds silly, but since I got Slackware + Gnome going on my laptop, it's one of the best parts of my day when I just get to sit down and relax for a little bit with my laptop......Like right now, slippers? CHECK!
lazy boy? CHECK!
big glass of tea? CHECK!
Slackware? DOUBLE CHECK!

Something about Slackware just gets my tinker bug all riled up. This week I've been playing with SSH and if I'd realized earlier how entirely cool it is, I don't think I'd ever taken the time to figure out how to set up samba!

Maybe I should start a new thread (or go elsewhere with this), because I was serious, and that doesn't help.

Yeah, if you're looking for help with that, this is probably a bad place to get it, but I was serious about Slackware making me happy and making me feel a certain amount of freedom + accomplishment. Sorry for your unhappiness.

I don't really understand the computer+free will+unhappiness thing.

Yes. The GSB + Slackware is PERFECT for my laptop and adds another dimension to my slack experience.
