i've never used USB, but i know you'd probably have to mount it some kind of way. im pretty sure USB stuff is in /dev but i dont have any more knowledge, maybe someone who knows more will also reply.

I've Motorola sb4200i cable modem also.

I used to use NIC to connect the slack9.1-box (acting as network/dns-sever) to the modem ethernet port (the connection is gained through dhcpcd ..), then the connection will be shared to the LAN through a 2nd NIC on the slack-server to the LAN, ICS with nat functioned well..

But now I have other scenario: slack is still connected through nic to the ethernet port of sb4200, while am trying to connect a laptop (Toshiba satelite 2805) through a USB cable to the sb4200, but I don't know nothing about USB, according to the documentqation of sb4200 it should be able to serve 32 hosts internet connection.

Sorry to corrupting this thread, but the question is related ..

How to connect to internet through usb port of sb4200 at all ?

It is possible to have double connection (usb+ethernet) parallel to internet ? If it is possible, wut about the IP addresses given from the dhcpd of ISP, do they give 2 dynamic ip adresses, or only one (multicast ?)
