The 144,000 with God's seal referred to in the Revelation are people (probably Christian Jews, but not necessarily Jews--it says these are of the 12 tribes of Israel, and Paul says that gentile Christians are "grafted into" Israel). Whether these are or not Jews, they are Christian, and are spoken of as those who will have a special role during the great tribulation, the time of the Anti-christ, just before Christ returns.
Immediately following the numbering of these 144,000 John writes, "After this I saw a great crowd, too great to count, (NIV reads, "that no one can count") from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They are clothed in white robes and held palm branches in their hands . . . These are the ones who died in the great tribulation. They have washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb and made them white . . . the Lamb on the throne will be their Shepherd. He will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe every tear from their eyes."
--Revelation 7:4-17
In other words, only 144,000 people who die before armageddon will be permitted in Heaven. So make sure you don't die before armageddon.
I was going through wikipedia for evolution of life several complex terms.... Prokaryote, Eukaryote complex cells etc. I hardly got anything mentioned there but I got a clear message that there is no proof of anything whatever it is written there. It is all wild guess of scientists and with that too they have different opinions. They are coming up with ideas what they believe in. More brains more confusion. And its obvious also, how they can be sure of something which they claim to be as old as multi billion years.
Prokaryotes are observable in nature, mostly as bacteria. Eukaryotes are observable in nature, most easily as the cells that make up your own body. So how do you get that these things are made up? Just because you don't understand the science doesn't mean it's all fiction.
Yes, there are some basic principles of the theory of evolution which have been used to predict certain outcomes which have not been verified... yet. The theory has also been used to predict certain outcomes which HAVE been verified, most notably in the area of identifying gaps in the fossil record prior to the discovery of fossils which filled those gaps.
For example, fossil studies of a category of dinosaurs known as theropods noted the unexpected similarities with birds, and evolution suggested that modern birds are a direct descendant. Evolutionary theory predicts that there must be some sort of gap in the record that contains the transition... and boom! http://www.ucmp.berkeley.edu/diapsid...aeopteryx.html
saying: "Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, until after we have sealed the servants of God on their foreheads." And I heard the number of the sealed, a hundred and forty-four thousand, sealed from every tribe of the sons of Israel:
12,000 from the tribe of Judah were sealed,
12,000 from the tribe of Reuben,
12,000 from the tribe of Gad,
12,000 from the tribe of Asher,
12,000 from the tribe of Naphtali,
12,000 from the tribe of Manasseh,
12,000 from the tribe of Simeon,
12,000 from the tribe of Levi,
12,000 from the tribe of Issachar,
12,000 from the tribe of Zebulun,
12,000 from the tribe of Joseph,
12,000 from the tribe of Benjamin were sealed.
Revelation 14:1 (ESV)
Then I looked, and behold, on Mount Zion stood the Lamb, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father's name written on their foreheads.
Revelation 14:3-5 (ESV)
And they were singing a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and before the elders. No one could learn that song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth. For it is these who have not defiled themselves with women, for they are virgins. It is these who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. These have been redeemed from mankind as firstfruits for God and the Lamb, and in their mouth no lie was found, for they are blameless.
I understand these as servants of God, something like a prophet or disciple. I'm not reading anything that indicates everyone else isn't getting in. The virgins thing throws me because there are many "Be Fruitful and multiply" scriptures out there. (Genesis 9:1 for example). You would think someone like Adam or Noah would have a chance of getting into heaven (non-virgins).
Thanks GOD atleast there is one atheist who accepts this as theory.
There is nothing to disprove... let scientists prove it first.....
Another /facepalm
- Wikipedia is database and God is single data|fact|w/e else - can't compare them directly like you tried and you can proove|disproove single data itself - if you want compare wikipedia with god fairly you need ask same question like "Does they exist?" Well wikipedia exists(you just visited that website yourself) but God? What about Aliens? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extraterrestrial_life
- Wikipedia contains mistakes not because scientists wrote it but usual people since wikipedia policy allows non-strict editors if you still want some source to read stuff then go here for example http://conservapedia.com/Evolution
- Evolution can be tested and can be observed + even your body has left-over-evidence from previous stages of evolution
- I still see you are trying to use term "science" without knowing it's definition - science means all available knowledge to people
p.s.For fun http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/God
I don't get the 144,000 thing or why it keeps coming up. I pulled up SigTerm's favorite source http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/144000_%28number%29
<snip>
You would think someone like Adam or Noah would have a chance of getting into heaven (non-virgins).
Well, since neither one of them belongs to any of the 12 tribes, not according to Revelations!
Yes well dooh. Internet has same chance to contain lies like books and stuff but they still contain more trustworthy policy than wikipedia. Ah this is stupid to discuss anyway over internet. You know what believers? Try this old prooven example to set mind straight and recognize reality from imagination - go to martial arts instructor or find someone who can fight(pro boxer for example) and tell him "Hey you pig! I believe you are weak and your methods don't work therefore i am correct and you won't do anything to me!" and see what happens..
Internet has same chance to contain lies like books and stuff but they still contain more trustworthy policy than wikipedia.
That particular website (Conservapedia), on the other hand, is infamous for not having a more trustworthy policy than Wikipedia. In fact, the whole reason that it was started was because Wikipedia wasn't biased enough for the home-schoolers who started it.
The virgins thing throws me because there are many "Be Fruitful and multiply" scriptures out there. (Genesis 9:1 for example). You would think someone like Adam or Noah would have a chance of getting into heaven (non-virgins).
Read it again: "[...]these who have not defiled themselves with women, for they are virgins." For, not so - the reason, not the consequence. In other words, the "virginity" in question is not literal but moral and it is this moral quality that has prevented them from defiling themselves. The word "defiled", by the way, does not refer to marital sex but to adultery (which accounts for the plural: women, not woman).
