No i do not support Redhats actions, but i do not support SCO Either
as you may or may not be aware, on monday the 4th of august 2003 Redhat launched a lawsuit against SCO's claim of stolen code in the linux kernel. Basically a put up or shutup, SuSE has recently voiced their support for Redhats's actions, Quoting part of a story from vnu.net:
'SuSE pointed out that SCO had already been stopped in Germany, a reference to a restraining court order made in May requiring SCO's German subsidiary to make its evidence public or retract its claims. It chose the latter.'
Redhat also announced the creation of a fund to provide assistance to other open souce developers that may be faced with similar claims. Redhat themselves put $1 million into this fund to give it a kick start.
My Query is this:
Please answer honestly, Do you support Redhat in their actions, or are you opposed to it?
also, If you support Redhats actions, would you consider 'chipping in' and putting maybe $1 into Redhats Fund?
if you feel the need to post a comment, Please keep it on topic, and no flame wars please
I support Red Hat's course of action fully. In my view, SCO's trying to "Redmond" it's way around - threatening, blustering, and bluffing, with the hopes that it will end up profiting. Their claims are unfounded as of today, since they've not shown a single piece of evidence.
I guess I'm one of those "show me the money" guys.
It does not help SCO's stance that they have already been smacked down in court once, withdrawing their claims. Guess they didn't read Redmond's history well - never back down willingly, make the federal government TELL you to back down, and even then insist you're right.
SCO's full of it. I hope they end up going bankrupt.

imo we should chip on the found till this day redhat let me download their software use their tools(up2date ,rhn) free for years i have done all my project on free software and i am very satisfied with it i never used it because its free.because its best without emacs gcc i would be dead so i will chip on the found. when i calculate how much i save compared to the chip.
Redhat is a good company with good support and awesome up2date (optional unlike microsoft). I really support them and i'd like to donate. SCO is trying to charge the government too, and i doubt that will fly to well.
& I'll lchip in As Soon As I (literally!) have a dollar or 3 to spare. (really, REALLY rugged right this instant -- maybe before the end of the month, I hope!)
GO, REDHAT!
(M$ logo: 'what game do you want to Try to play today', SCO (apparently) logo: '& if you don't like theirs, Pay Us!')
