Online Safety ...

You wouldn't think a forum post on the dd command could be dangerous, but it can be, especially if one uses the same nick on forums of totally different subject matter. Here's an example:

MaximusCensorship0023 likes to gripe about certain types of posts, found on certain forums. But he also likes to divulge all sorts of other information. So, on one forum, he has 200 posts, from 3 years ago. He wasn't that smart back then, and posted some information he probably shouldn't have.

Now, he thinks that information is gone, because he doesn't post to that forum any longer. Some wealthy occultist is looking for an excuse to work some occult on an unsuspecting victim. He sees this poster reviles God, and therefore has no protection against dark arts.

He does some reasearch, and finds a post stating MaximusCensoship0023, and his girlfriend, witnessed a robbery, and the post was dated 01-01-2003. The occult practitioner does some more research.

He finds out Max mainly posts to dating forums, computer forums, and religious forums; where he is either aggressive, or compliant, indicating basic fears. He likes to talk about how smart he is, but not how wealthy he is.

On one forum, many years earlier, one of his posts he wrote he has always lived in Cincinnatti, OH, and wouldn't even think of moving, ever. That by itself limits the search to a large city. Nothing to be afraid of.

But forums ask for DOB, and this guy likes happy birthday posts, from the forum, to himself. Now the search is limited to: (a large, but known city) / (365) / (the number of males who don't witness a robbery, accompanied by a female, on or near New Years Day, 2003.

The occultist chooses a weakness to exploit, in this case, greed. He flies to Cincinnatti to look through some police records, of robberies, near the date he found online. He locates the record, and moves to the local courthouse, to search court records.

He finds the right one, and in it is the name of an eye witness: Galileo N. Troy. He then moves to the local library, where he looks in the city directory for Cincinnatti, which lists people who have unlisted phone numbers, and finds the ridiculously unique name, Galileo N. Troy.

He stakes out Galileo's house, to learn his habits, and then leaves for a few days. The assailant has some business cards printed, with the thinly veiled disguise of businessman printed on them.

He shops at an electronics supply house, for a small pushbutton switch, parts to construct a small radio transmitter and receiver, and a few necessary tools. He tunes the transmitter to transmit 011001110010100001100111, on the same frequency and PL as the local police repeater receiver.

This way he will get a huge level of amplification, making it unnecessary to monitor for the intended transmission from close range. He tunes the receiver to receive on the local police repeater transmit frequency, adds a filter to block everything but the desired binary signal, so when the transmitter signal is repeated by the police repeater, the receiver will receive the signal.

He neatly tucks the transmitter into a gadget box, affixes the switch to the face of it, wires the transmitter power line to the switch, and closes the box with tamper proof screws.

He arrived at the target's door, handed him a business card, saying, "My name is Mister Frank N. O'desis. I have an offer to make to you. I guarantee delivery of $750,000.00 cash, if you push this button."

"What's the catch?"

"Good of you to ask. It's nothing really. When you push the button, a person you have never met will die."

"That's it?"

"You should at least sleep on it. It's a big decision. $750,000.00, in the hands of one prone to sin, will usually make the problem worse."

"I agree. I'll think about it overnight. Thanks Mister ... whatever your name was."

"It's on the card."

They both stayed awake, in different places, until dawn. The l.e.d. on the receiver lit up. The mark had pushed the button. Mister what's his name took a briefcase full of $750,000.00 dollars to Max, and asked for his button back.

"So that's all there is to it? What are you going to do with the button now?"

"You don't want to know."

"No, I do. I'm interested."

"You really don't want to know."

"Tell me. I really want to know."

"Very well, I'm going to give the button to someone who has never met you. Spend the money quickly."

It was then the victim saw the name on the business card was an anagram: Minister of Darkness. Over a one week period, the fear drove him insane. He died from fear of death, induced by a professional warlock, using technology to kill, thereby securing for himself the life force once belonging to his victims.

In this way, the warlock lives forever.

These are the psychopathic predators that do evil for the sake of evil. They have been alive for between 300 and 5,000 years. They are unmatched intellectually, and have the experience of multiple lifetimes. They are masters of deception, and could be anyone.

The way to tell is that a warlock will never look a person in the eyes. Their eyes are always shifted slightly above. You can try this with another person. Tell the person to look at your forehead, while you look the person straight in the eyes.

The warlock doesn't want anyone seeing straight into his eyes, because the common person becomes nauseous at the site of evil.

Ok, it's time for bed now, kids. I hope you enjoyed this heartwarming story.

Moved: This post is more suitable in <GENERAL> and has been split out from the dd thread and moved accordingly to help your thread/question get the exposure it deserves.

Being on the subject of EVIL forums/websites and safety:

Some (presumably) german hacker just hacked a neonazi forum (yes-passwords and everything else included) and put it up for download.

Just don't put anything you don't want to be known to everybody anywhere on the web.

This would imply the passwords were being stored (instead of their hashes), which says a lot about the webmaster's lack of dedication to security. My guess is it was probably a piece of cake to own the site.

Good advice (although infeasible for most people). I'm reminded of when that popular social networking site got exploited and supposedly private pictures of people became available to pretty much anyone. The torrent file for those pics is still floating around the Web.
