To be honest, I fail to see how this site would help.

First of all, everyone's crap looks more or less the same.
Second the thief has probably alreadly sold the item or left town with it. By the time you've put up you're poorly described ugly little laptop it'll alreadly have new wallpaper and customized icons somewhere halfway across the country.

I've own a stolen ti-86 calculator for 6 years. You think the owner is ever going to get it back? No way.
I could'nt give it back even if I wanted to.

In fact this whole thing sounds suspiciously like a phishing scheme to me. Oh this person has lost an ipod.

"Lets bust down some doors!"

yea....right.

In fact, you sound like an advertiser. 0 posts and this is all you have to say?

Yes, this looks quite suspicious if you ask me. To register, you need to provide your name, address, phone number and a list of all your valuables. You're even encouraged to provide photographs of your possessions. That's a nice database to have, if you're a professional burglar. And besides, doesn't the police have their own database of stolen property?

Trying to be helpful

Actually when you sign up the only info. I had to enter was a email, first name & zip code.
If your car was stolen would you like the police to do anything ?
Of course, well the same could be said for your laptop or jewelry.
This is a great service that this officer is providing and I beleive there are quite a few members that would probaly like their stuff back.

Not.

hmm. Email, first name and zip code. Well jeez that combination sure sounds familiar to me for some reason. I just can't quite place it...

I'm sure they would. But unless this site is into giving away money, no good is going to come of it.

This is about as useless as the Do Not Call list.

Not totally sure myself where this thread really lies, but the popular concensus it's just an advert, so we'll put this thread to bed i think.
