That's not his point, it's that microsoft looks like a bunch of hippocrites now (What's new?)
because they use pirated software.
Anyway, I agree with you that most people use pirated software.

I don't pirate. I don't even pirate music anymore. So how about that tree.
Anyway. . .
These days I don't pirate software as much as I once did. Truth is, once I started to really get into Linux, I found no need to pirate when I can get something better for free. . . why invoke the old five finger discount on something you hate anyway? hehe... just kiddin. As long as you give back to the Linux community in some way.. . and everyone does their part, Linux pays for itself.
the big point is that M$ claims to NEVER use any thing that is pirated, or 'not legal' or anything along that line, yet here they are in FACT pirating. worst of all, they are claiming it to be their own work, and not giving credit were credit is due.
for those who pirate at least you do not turn around and try to sell it as your own work.
i just saw it a few days ago when my dad rented it ..... very nice, tho not worth copying (not that i do .....) ... just watch it a few times, its one of those watch a few times, then it gets boring fast kinda films
but, m$ hasn't killed any programmers (or have they?)........
but I'm not surprised m$ copied stuff, for all we know they are coping source code from all over the place, stacking them together, and calling it stable, reliable software ( ... yea, just as stable and reliable as car made from bits and piece of other cars ( piece that were wielded together by monkey) .... and those new wielded pieces (like the frame) are attached to other pieces using elmer's children's glue and duck tape .......) .... i was always wondering why there seems to be more holes in there software then in a screen door

I am interested in that tree, too
I've never ever used Internet as a mean of piracy. And it's not just internet: *all* my CDs/DVDs/VCR tapes are either recorded from TV for personal use, or legally bought.
People often tend to soften their guilt by assuming "everyone" does it, or by thinking "if others do it, why not I?" And then they cry and whine when they get caught.
Pirating is a bad thing. I don't say all is good: many CD/DVD prices are too high for example; software patents are bad, too. But pirating is not the right way to fight this, IMHO.
BTW, I think that if people are encouraged not to pirate software, it will greatly help Free Software, hence Linux too.
Yves.

Recording limitations actually depend on where you live.
In films, more and more actors are using Macs. It is the politically correct OS: nice-looking, almost non-existent today (AFAIK, Linux has a greater market share), but still well known and with a good reputation.
But I find that most of the time, especially in futuristic or scientific or secret-agency context, the OS being used "does not exist". IMHO, themed Linux's could well be at the heart of those.
