about how often does a new version of the kernel come out? esp. how long will it take for 2.5.53 to become normal instead of beta?

thanks

when linus thinks it's ready, 2.5.xx will be released as 2.6. the chatter on LKML suggests it may be released next summer, but no one knows for sure.

i think torvalds & co. are aiming for early-to-mid summer to release the 2.6 kernel. you can look up the dates for other kernel releases at www.kernel.org - but the most accurate answer is "whenever linus feels like it"
