Question kernel update version question :)

Ok... how does the numbering go with kernel updates...

I will use 2.4 for an example...

Did it start out like this:
2.4.0
2.4.1
2.4.2
2.4.3
2.4.4
2.4.5
etc..
2.4.24
2.4.25

???

Im just confused on this thats why i am asking... i was under the impression that it would be more like (or should be)... 2.4.00 2.4.01 :shrugs:

thanks
trey

You got it right.. they don't put leading 0's in front of the single digit releases.

for a slightly further explanation, in case you were unsure here also, kernels with the second number 2.4 .xx being even are considered stable, those with odd numbers are unstable or development, the reason why there is no 2.1, 2.3, 2.5 series on kernel.org when 2.7.x comes out it will be displayed below 2.6 but probably above 2.4 on the kernel.org page
