Age: 26 years
Sex: Male
Nacionality: Colombian-Swiss (Aber mein Deutsch ist nicht perfekt
)
Mother tongue: Spanish (Esta si la hablo perfectamente )
Other languages: English and german
Location: Switzerland
Major: Systems Engineer (That's the name we have in my country, but I guess the correct one should be something like Software Engineer)

I started to use Unix at the university, but it was just for academic purpouses and abandoned it . Now I'm trying to learn/remmember unix/ because of my work. Although it's really complicated, I think it's a nice and powerfull O.S.

Best regards,
Josef.

Good To See So Many Youngens

Its good to see so many teens out there into Linux. I'm 16 myself, and from (good old?) New Zealand.

You guys might be interested that i just managed to convince my school to convert a whole lab to open source!

How is the linux scenario at schools around the world?

I am currently working on developing a school specific OS, based on the linux kernel of course, but more sepcific then Blue linux us.. And also, trying to develop a school wide network at my high school so that every student can use a laptop at school, which isnt it place at our school yet.

It was me!!!

Anyway, I am very happy this thread has continued to thrive, as it shows how very community oriented Linux in general, and more specifically this site is. It's great to give a few not easily known tidbits about each other, and even helps when relating to a problem sometimes.

Thanks everyone who has contributed so far, and thanks Garry for starting it! Keep it up

Cool

digital_dreams, i'm 14 11/5/88

I also tried convincing my school to go opensource...but we are an Apple sponsored school...but we're getting some Mac Os X boxes in soon...which is close enough to Linux
Our school already is wireless pretty cool huh hehehe....every student has there own laptop...well you borrow one...or bring you own.....every student has there own log in etc etc...webspace etc and etc well most school do now..i think....

And yeh i'm interested in your project for Linux for school...i like the idea of Blue Linux, but i would like more info on yours..do you mind filling me in?

damn you with your wireless. All students at our school have logins webspace etc, but you have to connect hardwire to the novell server. The project im working on is just because the motto of our school is that if students run linux, they will have too much access and other packages to do things other than schoolwork. I plan on making a minimal distro with all the esssential packages to get the job done pretty much.
