Flash drives with indicator lights

I know Centon and Kingston flash drives have indicator lights that flash during writes/reads.

Anyone know of other brands that do also ?

Most stores keep them locked up, so you can't tell before buying one.

Hi:

Micro Center has flash drives that have indicator lights too.
It's their version of flash drives/memory sticks.

Some of the SanDisk Cruzer memory sticks light up as well.

The Lexar Media jump drives have what your looking for also.

Wow, MicroCenter prices are really reasonable for the capacity.

Only 30 day warranty.

Lexar has a 3 yr warranty.

I haven't seen many USB flash drives that don't have a light. I suppose there are some, but I don't own any, and I have a variety of brands on hand. Even the tiny SanDisk Cruzer Fit, which barely protrudes outside the USB port, has a light. These are very good drives, btw.

I have a few Verbatim's and they don't have indicator lights.

Your right the 2 SanDisk Cruze switches I have work great and they are really fast.

Micro Center is a really good store and it's privately owned.
It's one of the better pc store's IMO.

Tiger Direct and Newegg are pretty pricey with certain types of hardware.

Yeah, I'm sure there are a few drives without lights, but maybe I've been lucky. I do recommend SanDisk. I've had a couple go bad over the years, and SanDisk replaced them for free. Not sure what other manufacturers will do that.

That's cool that they replaced them.-

What are the signs that a usb flash drive is on it's last leg?

DataTraveler 101 G2 do not have light either.

I like the light because it lets me know where there are disk writes/reads.

And reminds me not to disconnect it when light is on or blinking.

It blinks differently when there is some problem.

Like when an .iso meant only for a CD gets put on a flash drive. :-)

Roger that:-

I always wait a few seconds with the drives I have that don't light up after choosing 'eject'<or> safely remove drive.

Have you decided on purchasing a new usb drive/brand that you'd like try in the future?

I got no signs the drives were failing, they just quit. I don't recall the exact symptoms, it was years ago, but the drive just wasn't recognized when connected, IIRC. I lost the data, but it was just music and I didn't try very hard to recover it. The hardest part of the replacement process was reading the serial number off the drive. I had to get a good magnifying glass and a strong light. SanDisk required the number for replacement, and it was very hard to see. I didn't know it at the time, but every SanDisk drive has a serial number. Now that I think about it, those were microSD cards that failed. They also have serial numbers.

I have a Kingston Datatraveler, and it has a light. Not very bright, but there is a light. Perhaps some models don't have them. The lights are handy for seeing which drive is being accessed, and for seeing if it's being recognized by the system, and other stuff.

I must be old. Never heard, nor seen any flash drives with "lights" on them.

That's interesting, because the only USB flash drives I have without LEDs on them are Micro Center's house brand.

Lexar JumpDrive P20 USB 3.0 Flash Drive looks pretty good with some fast speeds.

And it's metal case.
