Question Easy Linux

What things would you like to see in linux (as an option of course) to make it more user friendly or easy to use.

It's easy to use. Well-configured Linux with GNOME/KDE is much easier than Windows.

Have GUI options for everything that could be done in the console.

Also, give various desktop environments their own X type setup. What is up with this use of layer after layer after layer of apps just to get graphics?

Better automatic update utility. Granted I'd rather play in the console all day. And I am not a fan of win. However, their update utility is pretty painless. I am trying to update openssh on a rh6.2 box. Even using RPM's I am about ready to give up. I am getting dependency errors left and right, and complaints about this package needs this package. I had openssh-2.9p2-1 already installed. Why should it be this hard? And I have tried using the source rpm and got errors with that one too.

That's the pain with rpms. Compiling from source will be easier. I know because I've compiled: you need openssl and zlib. That's all.

Well, I've got 4 machines at home :-)
In Poland there are machines the same as in USA (except that there are no Macs, maybe 0.1%). My machine is Duron 600, 128MB RAM, 20 GB hd etc bought more than a year ago. I don't know why people think there are different computers in Poland than in USA. Strange... :-)
