Connecting Another Monitor to Laptop

Hello all. I have a laptop computer with GPS software loaded on it. A GPS receiver connects via USB. This works really well in the car, however...
I'd like to connect a small LCD/TFT 7-9 inch monitor to the laptop, put the small monitor on the dashboard, and
tuck the laptop somewhere out of the way. We will be taking a long driving trip and there's just not enough room in the front seat to keep the laptop fully opened with the GPS software running.

I've looked at some small LCD, however, the ones that connect via the 15 pin VGA port are pretty expensive.
Is it possible to use some other type of connection, like USB or the TV Out port (these are much cheaper).

Thanks so much for any advise and suggestions!

If your laptop supports tv-out, that should be no problem. I am not aware of any monitors that use a USB connection... if you could provide a link to one, I would be glad to look into it on your behalf.

Thanks Matir, I know I have seen some of the monitors mention usb, I just have to find it again. Unfortunately this laptop does not even have a tv out, so it looks like I may be shopping for a new laptop soon. Thanks again for the response!
