Apple is Worried? (Fear and Loathing in Cupertino)

I don't think this article has been linked before and it's interesting.

Fear and Loathing in Cupertino, and
Here's a nice cartoon to go along with it.

Linux appears to be on a real run right now as far as awareness in the public conciousness is concerned. Since the only real way for Linux to spread the message is by word-of-mouth, it's a gradual process, but one that seems close to reaching critical mass.

Apple has got to be really concerned about that. MS can bluster and spread FUD, but the partial result of that is even more visibility for Linux. That hurts Apple more than it does MS, since they have such a small user base, and can't really afford to lose any of it.

I don't know how to prove it, but my suspicion is tha Linux has already supassed Apple in Desktop penetration, and will soon be recognized generally as the 2nd most used OS on personal desktops.

Ahhh gonzo journalism.

Degrading but very true.

Funny Cartoon

As to your comments about Apple, i think it is a good thing. Mac is already to close to Microsoft and Intel for me to have any sad feelings for it loseing users. And the more Linux useres the better.

I wouldn't worry about Apple - they make much more money than anybody else in the PC business (yes I called their boxes PC's) - not absolute numbers but as a percentage because they sell only mid to high range.

Of course that wont stop them from screwing it up all by themselves - they don't need Suse for that.
