I regretfully (older) have not found scary movies that have scared me since being a kid, like Dead Silence (not that I was a kid then ) but Crimson Peak has touched a never!
Add: Annabelle 1 n 2 is quite good as well!
Edid: of course Hellraiser's... is a must!

Midway. It's not great acting, but it's as historically accurate as any American movie about WWII in the Pacific could be. It's also surprisingly even-handed, for an American film.
The Collector was good. Think you recommended it elsewhere... thanks. Psycho won't scare me these days. My roommate jumps if I walk into the room too quickly and quietly so I said: you should desensitize, watch scary movies? To which she replied "I do, that's why I get scared." LOL
Midway looks familiar, will have to see?
Thanks John. A copy of that book would be less than four bucks, tho now that I've seen the ripoff may check out some of his other top rated books. The Transparent Society looks good? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Transparent_Society
And, free on Amazon: "Watch with a CONtv Subscription, 7 Day Free Trial" cool... the preview reminded me of The Toxic Avenger (1984) for some reason, only with a better cast?
Will check it out later, Thanks.
Add: Not scary but good: Beastly (2011,) kinda a Shallow Hal with a twist...

I may well have mentioned The Collector before. That I remember it so well over four decades later indicates the effect it had on me. I've seen it only the one time; I don't need to see it again.
The action is almost entirely psychological--scary on a far deeper level than slasher movies.
Got to make the most of this amazon prime subscription so I'll be binge watching Olympus (Broadcast Version) this weekend. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olympus_(TV_series) I like that the title sequence is super quick compared to other shows that waste so much time (like Game of Thrones,) luckily all my TV the last decade or so is fast forwardable.
Think I'll need to unplug for a while after this one...
Add: hope somehow there will be a season two!
