I have an old hd laying around collecting dust and was thinking I might put it back in and become a distro whore.
I'm fairly certain that linux won't even hiccup when it see's the new drive(except it has Slack 8.1 already on it.) Should I wipe it before I install it? What is a good method for wiping a hd? And what should I put on it? I'm not a fan of RH or Mandrake.
shouldn't need to clear it or anything, just remove the existing partitions during install. as for which one, please search this site for thoughts and opinions
Distribution: RH 6.2, Gen2, Knoppix, arch, bodhi, studio, suse, mint

Rep:
you run dd if=/dev/zero of=/drivedevice
10 times, so the fbi can't recover your kiddie porn and
receipts for weapons and explosives. or if=/dev/random
apparently they can recover it up to being written over 8
times. or you can write over it exactly 8 times, just to
screw with them. they'll keep thinking they've found
something good, then find out they can't recover it.

I keep all that on a computer chained to a power transformer at the top of a light pole.
