I am running FC5 and I am trying to update my kernel using yum, but it does not seem to be working. I updated it when I first installed FC5 fine. Now for some reason it is not working. It says it downloads and installs it but it does not, not that I can find anyway. I do not have much experience with the kernel so maybe I am doing something wrong. Any help is appreciated.

To see if installed use the command ' rpm -qa | grep kernel '.
If installed then check /boot/grub/grub.conf and see if there is a section for the new kernel. Requires root to see it.

Not a big yum user so not sure where and if the kernel file is stored at. If you can't find it using the repo address get the file and to install as root do ' rpm -ivh kernel*.rpm '
Thank you for your help. I finally got my kernel updated. I had to download the rpm outside of yum and then install it by your instructions. Thank you again.
