SATA support on Fedora Core 3

Due to software requirements, I am attempting to install Fedora Core 3 on a brand new PC. The DVD drive and HDDs are all SATA. Unfortunately, when I try the install, I get the error message: No device of selected type found. I do have an external (USB) DVD drive, and can get further with it, but it still won't recognize the HDDs.

I've read workarounds of using a SATA/IDE adapter OR a different distro of linux, unfortunately I don't have the ability to utilize either.

Is there a driver I can download and utilize during the install process to correct this issue, or am I dead in the water?

You likely need a newer kernel, ie, a later Fedora Core version. So I'm going with dead in the water.

Welcome to LQ.

The good news : Your old software does not require a brand new computer.
Many old OS ( like Fedora 3 ) will require a computer older than the OS.

Which software / application is it about ?
