OK, the checksum passed. So now we know the initrd is not faulty. I ran a MemTest86, so my memory doesn't have any problems. I run dvd's all the time on the dvd drive and I experience no problems with that, so my dvd drive doesn't have any problems. But, I don't understand what my dvd drive and hdd running off of the same cable would have to do with the problem I am experiencing.

My experience is that the FC4 ISO is fussy. It may take several goes to get an installable image. (Even if the mediacheck works out fine. The mediacheck is not to be trusted, have you tried SHA1sum?)

When you say that, do you mean that I will have to burn the image from my laptop onto another CD-R, and use that CD-R?

I burned three more CD-Rs of the FC4 Disc1, and tried installing from each of those three, and I am still getting the same output. What should I try next??? Thanks.

You burned the cds at speed 8 or less? Fast speeds will give OK sha1sums but still have hard to read data for anaconda.

At first prompt, type "safufubar" and hit enter. Next prompt, hit enter.

Try kernel options ...
linux noapic nolapic noapci ide=nodma

... or a different distro.
