HELP! RPM packages not installed, but say they are...

Hi All,

I have been trying to install phpBB on FC2 for the last 2 days. I traced down my issues to something to do with PHP. I checked the installed packages, and found that the PHP-mysql package was not installed.

I tried to install, but it said not all the other PHP packages were installed (i.e. PHP, PEP-pear, PHP-mbstring). When I tries to uninstall, it said I couldn't. I tried force installing (rpm -if), and uninstalling (rpm -e) all to no avail...

I have now done an rpm -ql, found all the files for the PHP packages and removed them, then running rpm -rebuilddb. Still no luck.

Can anyone guide me on how to get the packages corrected to enable me to get phpBB up and running?

Many thanks (and in frustration...),

Robin.

It's well worth looking into yum, which comes with FC2. The install function of yum will automatically download and install packages to meet dependencies.

Hey Hob

Thanks for that - I decided to give YUM a try last night, and found it solved almost all my problems! All I can say is goodbye up2date. I am only going to use YUM to update packages on my FC2 server now!

Regards,

Robin.
