Hello all,

After searching the forums here I could not find a similar situation I am facing with my FC6 installation, here is the problem I am facing.

While installing FC6 (from DVD), the graphical installation won't show up. There is just a black screen with " x " shaped cursor in the middle. I can move the cursor and keyboard lights are still on. No activity of installation at all.

After the Anaconda started the messages are

"Probing for video card: nVidia Corporation unknown device 016a"
"Starting native x server"
"1...2..."

then all I see is black screen.

My setup:

EVGA nForce4 SLI mobo (133-P4-nF51-AX)
GeForce 7100 graphics card in PCI-E slot
Seagate 250GB IDE HDD in IDE primary as master
Saegate 320GB in SATA channel 1

At the boot prompt, I tried noacpi, noprobe, skipddc and also resolution (to force to certain resolution). But to no avail.

Everthing is properly connected (I double checked it)

I'm having similar problems with my PCIe nVidia 7300 GS card. You should be able to type "linux text" in and install in text mode, though I ran into issues setting up partitioning with my SATA hard drive that I still haven't worked out. I couldn't force it to install on the partition I wanted to, it wanted to either take over the whole drive (and overwrite the other distro I have installed) or nothing at all :-(

Sometimes very new hardware can be a problem with Linux.
