black screen after runing startx on FC6

my video card is Radeon X700, but after i edit the xorg.conf, replace the Driver "radeon" withe "vesa", the startx worked. thats why? thanks

radeon is the wrong driver for the newer radeon series. you will need to download the driver made by ati self.

explains how to install your card. its based on slackware but i doubt it wont work for you
