Just finished building a new machine and am trying to install FC4.
It looks like the installation hangs right at the beginning of the install, after all of the package selection has been completed. It is at the screen with the message "We have gathered all the information needed to install Fedora Core on the system. It may take awhile..."
There is no progress bar or anything that indicates something is being done. The hard drive and CD lights never come on.
I have left it at this point for over an hour and nothing happens.
I have tried the 64 and 32 bit version and got the same results.
I have win2k install with no problems, so I know the hardware is working.
System Info:
MSI K8N Neo 4 Platinum (nForce4) mainboard
AMD Athlon 64 3500+
2 GB (1 x 1GB) DDR400 RAM (all 2GB recognized in win2k)
Gigabyte Geforce 6600 graphics card
Seagate Barricuda 80 GB SATA HD x2
Only one of the HDDs is formatted (it has win2k on it). The first time I tried the install the second HDD was at least partially formatted because win2k now shows the drive, but says it is unformatted. Where as before the first install win2k would not even list the drive in explorer.
Looks like it may have been related to using LVM. I was originally selecting automatic partitioning for the hard drives which used LVM. I changed to manually partitioning and did not use LVM and it worked fine.
